Flight1 ATR72-500 Training Scheduled for Saturday September 9, 2006  1600Z

As most of you already know, most of the AvA fleet is a jet fleet. Jets are always fun to fly, but there is a lot of fun and advantages of flying one of our turboprop models as well!  This time we're going to slow things down just a bit and work with one of the best turboprop airliners ever built.  The ATR series of aircraft are of a powerful, efficient, and comfortable design.  Once of the prime advantages of this aircraft is the ability to land on a very short airstrip.  An orientation class has been scheduled. The class will cover the systems and operating procedures of  the Flight1 ATR72-500 aircraft.  We already have five individuals that have expressed interest in the class.  This is awesome, but we still have room for more. Please email me at vp-training@joinava.org to sign up for the class.  We are looking for max participation so if you own or plan to own the aircraft in the near future, come on out and join us!!!!

Flight1/Coolsky MD-80 Training A Success!!!

A couple of weeks ago a training class for the Flight1/Coolsky MD-80 was held.  Although there were only two students, the class was a success.  We went into detail of how to operate the Omega Navigation System/ONS.  Although the system is obsolete, it is still very much functional.  This rendition of the MD-80 aircraft has proven to be great asset to many of us at AvA!!  I would like to schedules another class for those of you who were unable to attend and would like to.  If you are still interested, please email Brian Murphy at:  trainingdirector@joinava.org  or myself at vp-training@joinava.org .

First Online Training Session In Hawaii Completed

Last weekend we held the first online training session in Honolulu.  Two of our newest pilots completed their first flight and recorded their first flights  in their logbooks!!  Instruction was given over Ventrilo as I was controlling HNL_CTR at the same time.  This allowed both students to receive instruction and live VATSIM ATC at the same time.  The flight was flown online and was greater than 30 minutes making it completely "pirepable".  This is a good deal guys!!! Take advantage of it!!!  In order for this training to be administered efficiently, we need to get several students to take the training simultaneously.  The training is a great thing however it is very time consuming.  In this case both students arrived at staggered times and therefore I ended up being online for over 5 hours!!  Let's get this ball rolling with more participation. and make this program a huge success!!!  If you're interested in getting some online training send me an email and we'll find a time where we can get 5 or 6 students at a time.

AvA Test Answers To Be Posted

We have received several requests from pilots asking us what the correct answers are to the AvA tests.  Currently, when a pilot takes a test, the pilot is informed of his final score in a percentage of correct answers.  This is great but the test system does not reveal the correct answers when the test is complete.  Currently, the test results are sent to the training department but aren't being recorded anywhere.  We will be working on a testing system that records your score and reveals the correct answers upon completion.  In the meantime I will post a link to the correct answers on the training department site.  Look for it soon!

See you in the air!!!
